Roll-shaped Pastry

Roll-shaped Pastry

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams butter or margarine
  • Half a cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • Enough flour
  • For the filling:
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup white cheese or cottage cheese
  • Half a bunch of dill
  • Half a bunch of fresh mint
  • 2 eggs
  • For the topping:
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions:

  1. In a deep bowl, mix the yeast with warm milk and sugar, then let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add butter, vegetable oil, egg, and salt, then mix. Gradually add flour and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and does not stick to your hands.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for half an hour. In the meantime, prepare the filling. In a deep bowl, mix the grated cheddar cheese, mashed white cheese, finely chopped dill, and fresh mint, and add 2 eggs. Mix well.
  4. Divide the risen dough into 5 equal pieces and shape them into balls. Roll out each ball into a rectangular shape using a rolling pin (make sure it’s not too thin).
  5. Spread the cheese filling all over the rolled-out dough. Then, roll it up like a log.
  6. Cut the rolled dough into pieces about 2-3 fingers thick. Arrange them vertically on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and press the tops. Brush egg yolks on the tops and sides.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius (338 degrees Fahrenheit) until they turn golden brown.
  8. Enjoy your roll-shaped pastries!
