Ingredients:
- 2 cups warm milk
- 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 egg whites (keep the yolks for brushing on top)
- 1 tablespoon salt
- All-purpose flour (add gradually until the dough reaches the right consistency)
- For the filling:
- Sucuk (Turkish sausage)
- Kaşar cheese (or any melting cheese of your choice)
- Bell peppers
- Olives
- Tomatoes (customize according to your taste)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Dissolve the yeast by gently stirring with your hand (the warmth of your hand helps activate the yeast).
- Add vegetable oil, salt, egg whites, and flour gradually to the mixture. Knead the dough well. I used approximately 7 cups of flour (200ml measuring cup). However, make sure to add the flour gradually until the dough reaches the right consistency.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise for about 40 minutes.
- Divide the risen dough into smaller pieces and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Adjust the number of pieces according to the size of your baking sheet. You will have about 24-25 pieces of dough.
- Cover the dough pieces with a cloth and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
- Press the center of each piece with a glass or your hand to create a well. Shape the dough gently.
- Place your desired pizza fillings (such as sucuk, kaşar cheese, bell peppers, olives, and tomatoes) into the wells of the dough.
- Brush the top of each dough with the reserved egg yolks.
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and bake the pizza poğaça until they turn golden brown.
- Serve your delicious Pizza Poğaça while they are still warm.
