Perfect Coffee Sauce Cake


For the Cake:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla extract
  • 3 heaping tablespoons cocoa powder (preferably dark cocoa)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 heaping tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules


  1. For the cake, start by adding the eggs and granulated sugar to a deep bowl. Beat them with an electric mixer until they become pale and fluffy.
  2. Add the vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract, and continue to beat.
  3. Sift the baking powder, cocoa powder, and all-purpose flour into the bowl. Beat until you obtain a thick cake batter.
  4. Pour the cake batter into a greased or parchment paper-lined loaf pan. Tap the pan on the counter a few times to remove air bubbles.
  5. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius (338 degrees Fahrenheit). While the cake is baking, you can prepare the sauce.
  6. For the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and cook while stirring until the coffee and cocoa granules completely dissolve.
  7. Once the cake is done, take it out of the oven and immediately poke holes all over the top with a skewer or fork.
  8. Pour the prepared hot sauce over the cake while it’s still warm. Let the cake rest for at least 4 hours to allow the sauce to be fully absorbed.
  9. Slice and serve the cake. Enjoy!
