Prepare your bottle for the transformation

Prepare your bottle for the transformation

The very first aspect that you need to focus is taking hold of a sharp knife and makes a cut at the base of the plastic bottle. You have to make sure that the cut is approximately 1 inch above the bottom. Wash the bottle thoroughly so that there is no drop of soda or soft drink left inside. Let it dry completely and then initiate the next step.

The second step requires you to tape the exposed edges of the bottle, from where you have made the cut. Make 4 or 5 holes on the tape at a regular sequence so that you can make string or string loops. Make equal lengths of the strings and make a tight knot through the holes that you have made. Once you acquire all the ends of the strings together and hand them downwards, make sure that it is straight and not falling on either side or at any angle.

Put in an aluminum foil

Put in an aluminum foil

You need to insert an aluminum foil inside the bottle by rolling into a tube and making the placement right. It acts as an excellent insulating layer and also aids in dual functions:

  • It prevents the direct sunlight rays from taking away the moisture out of the soil.
  • Secondly, the foil also draws the necessary heat from the sun and keeps the roots of the plants warm. It is mainly helpful during the rainy and damp season.

You have to make choices regarding the type of plant you want to grow. There is a host of options available when it comes to outdoor plantation in a hanging tub. You have to keep in mind in mind that while you are planting using a hanging plastic bottle tub, the top layer of the soil shouldn’t get depleted with the growth of the flowers and the fruits. While adding soil, you have to ensure you don’t pack it tightly or else the roots won’t be able to spread out and help the plant to grow properly.

Hang the planter

Make sure you hang the planter where there is the maximum sunlight. You have to estimate the amount of watering and pour it. Overdoing it will make the bottle leak. Calculate the water required to keep the soil moist by not drowning the plant.
